As per the official press release from the Red Chillies, the Hindi movie has made ₹2.31 from the Mysore region (Bangalore, Mysore and parts of Karnataka). This clearly shows that the star power of Shah Rukh Khan has worked big time.
The early response coming from theatres clearly reveals that "Happy New Year" has been overwhelmingly welcomed by the audience.
"The response for the advance booking of 'Happy New Year' indicated that the film would make a record-breaking business in the city. The screen count of the show gave a clear picture of the film's demand in Bangalore. 260 shows for Shah Rukh Khan film in Bangalore is a new record," said a source close to IBTimes India.
SRK's last movie "Chennai Express" had about 200 shows on the first day. The film made ₹30 lakh (Mysore circuit) from its preview shows (90 shows).
The film, released in Bangalore (Mysore Circuit) by Yash Raj Pal Films Distributors Pvt. Ltd., is heavily competing with Vijay and Samantha's Tamil movie "Kaththi".
